About Me
Hi, I'm Laura
Born and based in Los Angeles, I’m a Recovery Coach and Sober Companion with both lived experience and a deep passion for helping others. As someone who is clean and sober myself and active in Alcoholics Anonymous, I understand firsthand the courage, bravery and support recovery requires. This is often the hardest thing in our lives we will have to take on!Recovery and emergence into a new and amazing life by someone who really cares, and has gotten to know hundreds of other people who care as deeply as I do about others, it is possible to have the life you've dreamed of. And a sense of true peace and belonging that we used drugs and alcohol to achieve (and obviously didn't work out the way we planned).I provide compassionate, personalized support at home, while travelling, at work, at events, or through life transitions — offering both companionship and coaching for you and/or your loved ones.I support all recovery pathways, including Alcoholics Anonymous, SMART Recovery, and other recovery communities.I’m also an artist with a lifelong background in music, art and a dual UK–US citizen, available to support clients in the U.S. and internationally. My mission is simple: to help people feel supported, empowered, heard, and hopeful in recovery!

Differences Between Sober Coaching and Companioning
Recovery/Sober Coaching
There are some differences between a sober coach and a sober companion, although they are often used interchangeably.A sober coach's typical responsibilities:>Focuses on guidance, self care, accountability and life skills in sobriety, from week to week or more if needed>Discusses and develops relapse-prevention strategies>Encourages participation in recovery programs>Providing regular check-ins and accountability>Assisting with life skills and healthy routinesA sober coach usually is not with the client full-time. Meetings can be in person, by phone, or virtually.

Sober Companioning
The typical role of a sober companion is:- Accompanying clients during travel
- Assisting with transportation and accompanying a client to meetings, appointments, work, IOP, the gym, errands, recovery activities, admission into detox, et cetera.
- Attending social events, business functions, music shows, studios, weddings, family gatherings, essentially everything that could need a supportive presence.
- Offering emotional support, listening and encouragement throughout the day.>Creating or maintaing structure, healthy routines, and positive action.
